WHY DOES IT FAIL?

MOTO GUZZI ABS FAULT SYMPTOMS

Spotting ABS problems in time can prevent accidents and bigger repairs. The most common signs of a broken ABS include:

ABS warning light on in the instrument panel

The ABS warning light stays on after starting or comes on while riding, indicating that the ECU has detected a fault.

False or intermittent ABS activation

The brake lever pulses or vibrates under normal braking for no apparent reason.

Speedometer failure or erratic reading

The speedometer shows incorrect or intermittent values or stops working, alongside the ABS fault.

ABS system in failsafe mode (self-disabled)

The system switches itself off automatically and the bike reverts to conventional braking without ABS assistance.

The ABS does not act under hard braking (wheel lock)

The wheel locks when braking hard despite the ABS system being fitted, increasing the risk of a fall.

Abnormal brake lever feel

Hard or spongy lever, or one with irregular travel.

Unusual noise around the wheel (sensor/tone ring)

Clicks, humming or rubbing coming from the wheel sensor or the toothed ring.

Longer braking distance / loss of control in an emergency

    Teníamos un problema de Módulo de ABS en una Volkswaggen Caddy 4 Motion del 2014, ya revisado por otros profesionales del sector, sin solución ninguna, precios desorbitados y con muy poca información del problema, sobre todo para explicarle al cliente.
    Cuándo contactamos con Nito Motor, me sorprendió que nos explicaran tan claramente su método de trabajo y los posibles fallos de ese módulo ABS ( fue muy fácil explicárselo al cliente ) y así fue:
    Nos llamaron, explicaron el problema, lo solucionaron y además nos dieron consejos para poner en marcha el vehículo.
    Después de su revisión/reparación y nuestra programación electrónica el vehículo ha vuelto a funcionar sin ningún fallo de ABS después de 2 AÑOS!!!

    No le doy más estrellas por qué no se puede. Llame por una avería muy común en las BMW (módulo Abs) me corria un poco de prisa por que tenía un viaje y se lo comenté se lo envié y en un día y poco lo tenía reparado y preparado para llegar y montar. Profesionales de verdad. Un placer

    Die Abwicklung der Reparatur meines defekten ABS Modul (2003er BMW R1150GS) war sehr einfach, schnell und kompetent. Wenn man auf der Website den Reparaturauftrag erteilt hat, dann sollte man einen Screenshot vom Auftrag machen, denn ich habe keine schriftliche Bestätigung erhalten. Ist aber kein Problem. Achtet auf die Preise - auf der Website ist Netto angegeben, kann überraschen, weil wir es in D nicht gewohnt sind, mit Nettopreisen einzukaufen. Incl Transportversicherung betrugen die Reparaturkosten somit ca. 900 Euro, deutlich günstiger als andere Angebote. Das Gerät würde pünktlich, wie vereinbart, von einer Spedition 2 Tage nach Auftragserteilung an einem Mittwoch abgeholt und nach Spanien geschickt. Am folgenden Dienstag erhielt ich bereits die Info, dass die Reparatur fertig gestellt wurde. Super schnell. Ich habe überwiesen und den Screenshot der Überweisung mitgeschickt. So wurde das ABS bereits am darauf folgenden Mittwoch zurück gesendet und war am Montag wierder zu Hause. Das Ganze dauerte keine zwei Wochen. Das Gerät funktioniert wieder einwandfrei.

MOTO GUZZI abs repair faqs

The most common sign is the ABS warning light staying on in the instrument panel after start-up, when it should normally go out after a few seconds. You may also notice irregular braking, loss of anti-lock assistance under hard braking, or the system switching itself off intermittently for no apparent reason.

Yes, it is quite common: with the passing of the years and the miles, the ABS module connectors can corrode or the internal components of the control unit can degrade, causing faults that do not always recur consistently. A full diagnosis of the module makes it possible to identify this kind of intermittent fault even if it does not show up every time the bike is started.

Repairing is precisely the best option in these cases, since finding new or second-hand ABS modules compatible with the first-generation Breva, Norge or Stelvio can be difficult and expensive. Our remanufacturing process works on your own module, so you are not dependent on hard-to-find spare parts.

It is quite a likely cause on this type of motorcycle, designed for dual-sport use. Dirt tracks, mud and riding through puddles expose both the wheel sensors and the ABS control unit itself to more vibration and moisture than urban riding, which over time can loosen connections or damage internal electronic components.

Yes, knocks or falls, even at low speed, can damage the ABS control unit connector or cause an internal fault on the circuit board, especially if the module is located in an exposed area of the motorcycle. It is advisable to check the module after any fall, even if the rest of the motorcycle shows no visible damage.

Repairing it costs roughly a quarter of what a new module would cost, a difference that matters all the more with Moto Guzzi given the limited availability of original spare parts on the Spanish market.
