WHY DOES IT FAIL?
Symptoms of a FAULTY HUMMER H3 ABS
The Hummer H3 does not have a single fault code visible to the driver: a Hummer H3 ABS module fault is detected through the symptoms it causes, which in many cases are made worse by the off-road use typical of this model. The most frequent are:
ABS warning light permanently on
The ABS warning light stays on in the instrument cluster and does not go off when you restart the engine, a sign that the EBCM has detected an internal fault in the ABS module.
Service Stab Trac or traction control warning light on
It comes on together with the ABS light because both systems share the same EBCM electro-hydraulic unit on the H3, and it may be accompanied by the message «Service Stab Sys Traction Failed» in the instrument cluster.
The car pulls to one side when braking
One wheel brakes earlier or harder than the rest, which is especially noticeable on wet surfaces or when coming off a dirt track.
Harder brake pedal or longer travel
The pedal sinks further than usual or is harder to press, due to a loss of pressure in the Hummer H3 ABS hydraulic circuit.
Intermittent wheel sensor fault after off-road use
A Hummer H3 ABS wheel sensor gets knocked or caked in mud on difficult terrain, causing erratic readings and the warning light coming on intermittently.
The ABS does not intervene in emergency braking
The wheels lock under hard braking because the system has stopped working, increasing the H3’s braking distance.
