WHY DOES IT FAIL?
CHEVROLET AVEO ABS FAULT symptoms
The Chevrolet Aveo has no catalogue of ABS fault codes of its own visible to the user: the fault is identified by the symptoms it causes. The most common on this model, especially on cars with more years and miles behind them, are:
ABS warning light on
It stays on permanently on the instrument panel, or comes on and goes off intermittently with no clear pattern, a sign of a fault detected by the control unit.
Irregular brake pedal
Longer travel than normal or a hard feel when pressing the pedal, due to a loss of pressure in the hydraulic circuit.
Inconsistent braking
One wheel brakes earlier or harder than the others, pulling the car to one side, especially on wet roads.
Intermittent fault due to corroded connectors
The warning light goes off and comes back on with no clear pattern, typical of the module’s connectors ageing over the years.
The ABS does not intervene in emergency braking
The wheels lock when braking hard because the system has stopped working, increasing the braking distance.
