WHY DOES IT FAIL?
Symptoms of a Lincoln ABS fault
Spotting a Lincoln ABS fault in time can prevent accidents and bigger repairs. The Lincoln ABS warning light on the dashboard is the warning we hear about most at the workshop, but it rarely comes alone: a Lincoln ABS sensor that stops sending a signal, or a control unit that misreads the one it receives, can show up in several ways. The most common signs of a faulty ABS on a Lincoln are:
ABS warning light on
The Lincoln ABS warning light stays on in the instrument cluster, sometimes together with the brake or ESP light, as the ESP is left without the wheel speed data it needs.
Steering angle sensor fault
The scanner logs C0051:23 or C0051:27: the steering wheel position sensor always returns the same value and the ABS/ESP cannot calculate which way the car is turning when braking.
Unpredictable braking
The braking system does not respond as it should. DTC reading and testing of every hydraulic and electronic channel.
Several wheel sensors with no signal
The diagnostic tool logs C1221 – C1224 on several wheels at once. When the input signal drops to 0 on more than one sensor, the cause usually lies in your Lincoln’s control unit and not in the sensors.
