VITO MODULE
ABS MERCEDES VITO
We carry out Mercedes Vito ABS repair by returning your own ABS control unit remanufactured, with the hydraulic unit and the circuit board restored in a technical repair centre. We cover all three generations of the van: the W638 (1996-2003), the W639 (2003-2014) and the W447 (from 2014), with diesel and petrol engines, with no need to recode the control unit or rely on a breaker’s yard part of uncertain compatibility. This is the Mercedes Vito version for which we repair the ABS module. If you can’t find your vehicle, contact us and we’ll help you.

WHY DOES IT FAIL?
MERCEDES VITO ABS FAULT symptoms
The Mercedes Vito does not give the driver an ABS fault code that can be read without diagnostic equipment either: the fault is detected by the symptoms it causes. These are the most common across the van’s different generations, from the W638 to the W447, made worse by commercial use and heavy loads:
ABS, ESP and traction control warning lights permanently on
When the fault is serious, these warning lights come on together in the instrument cluster and don’t go off even when you restart the engine, a sign that the Mercedes Vito ABS module has detected an internal pump or solenoid valve fault.
Mercedes Vito ABS sensor giving erratic readings
The commercial and load-carrying use of this van means the Mercedes Vito ABS sensor and its magnetic ring tend to build up brake dust, mud and moisture, causing intermittent wheel speed errors.
Uneven braking or pulling to one side
One wheel brakes earlier or harder than the others due to a fault in the hydraulic unit’s pressure distribution, which is more noticeable on wet roads or when driving the van loaded.
Longer braking distance with the van loaded
With the anti-lock assistance lost, the braking distance increases considerably, a greater risk in a van that is often driven loaded or on damp surfaces with a faulty Mercedes Vito ABS.
Worn pump motor brushes
With the high mileage typical of professional use, the brushes of the hydraulic pump motor in the Mercedes Vito ABS module wear out and cause pressure faults and an intermittent warning light.
Micro-cracks in the circuit board solder joints
Engine vibration and years of service crack the internal solder joints on the Mercedes Vito ABS module’s circuit board, causing intermittent communication faults that can only be fixed by rebuilding the unit.
