This is the Opel Astra version for which we repair the ABS module. If you cannot find your car, contact us and we will help you.

We can't find that model. Escríbenos with the module's part number and we'll tell you if we can repair it.

WHY DOES IT FAIL?

OPEL ASTRA ABS FAULT symptoms

The Opel Astra does not have a catalogue of fault codes visible to the user: an Opel Astra ABS fault is detected by the symptoms it causes, not by a reference table. The most common in this model are:

ABS and ESP warning lights permanently on

Both warning lights stay on in the instrument cluster and do not go out even when you restart the engine, a sign that the control unit has detected an internal fault.

Service message in the instrument cluster

The central display shows a warning to check the brake or ABS system, even when the brakes are still responding normally.

Precautionary deactivation of the ABS system

On detecting the fault, the control unit switches off the ABS as a precaution: the brakes keep working conventionally, but without anti-lock assistance.

Broken micro-solder joints in the Opel Astra H ABS module

In the H generation, vibration and the heat that builds up around the control unit eventually break the internal micro-solder joints on the circuit board, causing intermittent faults.

Worn relays and brushes in the Opel Astra G ABS

In the older models, deterioration of the power supply relays and of the hydraulic pump motor brushes is the most common cause of failure.

Return motor and CAN bus in the Opel Astra J ABS

In the J generation, the fault usually lies in the hydraulic return motor or in an occasional loss of communication with the vehicle’s CAN bus network.

Nuestro cliente y nosotros estamos infinitamente agradecidos.

Well, 3 months ago they repaired a Seat León module for me, and from the very first moment they treated me in a super professional way. They were quick with the repair and practical with collecting the part and delivering it. No problems so far, I recommend them one hundred per cent.

OPEL ASTRA ABS repair FAQs

The most direct warning is the ABS and ESP lights (the skidding car icon) staying lit on the dashboard, often together with a service message on the central display. When this Opel Astra ABS fault occurs, the anti-lock system is deactivated as a precaution. Although the car still brakes conventionally, it is vital to carry out an electronic diagnosis to confirm whether the cause is a dirty wheel sensor or an internal problem in the central unit.

The Opel Astra H ABS module is particularly prone to chronic faults. This is because the control unit’s location exposes it to strong vibration and high temperatures, which eventually break the micro-solder joints on its internal circuit board. Rebuilding these connections at a specialised technical repair centre permanently solves this original design problem.

Yes, absolutely. Although Opel Astra G ABS technology is more analogue than that of its successors, its hydraulic units suffer typical wear over the years, especially in the power supply relays and the pump motor brushes. Rebuilding it is a standard, affordable and fully guaranteed process.

The J generation significantly improved the control units’ insulation against heat and vibration, but the Opel Astra J ABS is still prone to faults due to wear of the hydraulic return motor and, at times, to losses of communication with the vehicle’s CAN bus network. These faults still require the unit to be removed and physically worked on at a test bench.

No. Clearing the Opel Astra ABS fault codes only turns off the dashboard light temporarily. If there is a real physical fault (such as cracked solder joints, sticking valves or electric motor failures), the fault will be logged again immediately as soon as you press the brake pedal and the system tries to check its own internal pressure.

By repairing your original module, you keep the chassis number (VIN) and the specific programming of your vehicle’s optional equipment. This allows quick, direct installation (plug & play) with no need to go to the garage for costly coding. You also avoid the high risk of a used module from a breaker’s yard developing the same chronic factory defect within a few months.

Driving with a faulty anti-lock system is a major safety risk. Under emergency braking, or driving on wet tarmac, the wheels will lock completely, preventing you from steering to avoid an obstacle. In addition, having any safety warning light lit will stop you from passing the MOT (roadworthiness test).
