X-TRAIL MODULE
ABS NISSAN X-TRAIL
We carry out Nissan X-Trail ABS repair by returning your own control unit remanufactured, with the hydraulic unit and the circuit board restored, without relying on a breaker’s yard spare of uncertain compatibility. This off-roader was built in several generations, each with its own module: the Nissan X-Trail T30 ABS (2001-2007) is the unit we receive most often at the workshop, followed by the Nissan X-Trail 2007 ABS module, which already belongs to the second generation T31 (2007-2013) and shares much of the system architecture with the Nissan X-Trail T30 ABS module it replaces. Before suspecting the control unit, it is worth checking the relevant relay, as a faulty relay can cause the same symptoms as an internal fault; but if the fault persists after replacing it, it usually lies in the module itself. This is the Nissan X-Trail version for which we repair the ABS module. If you cannot find your car, contact us and we will help you.

WHY DOES IT FAIL?
NISSAN X-TRAIL ABS FAULT symptoms
The Nissan X-Trail does not provide the user with an accessible built-in ABS fault code reader, so the most reliable way to detect a fault is to pay attention to the symptoms when driving, also checking the Nissan X-Trail ABS relay before suspecting the control unit. The most common symptoms of a faulty Nissan X-Trail ABS are:
ABS warning light permanently on
The ABS light stays on in the instrument cluster without going out even when you restart the engine. It is worth starting with the Nissan X-Trail ABS sensor on the wheel closest to the noise, although if the warning light does not clear after checking it, the fault usually lies in the control unit itself.
Harder brake pedal or irregular pedal travel
The pedal sinks further than usual or is harder to press due to a loss of pressure in the hydraulic circuit, one of the symptoms most often reported by owners of a higher-mileage X-Trail.
Inconsistent braking between wheels
One wheel brakes earlier or harder than the others, an imbalance that is especially noticeable under hard braking or on wet or muddy surfaces.
Intermittent electrical fault in the relay
Before assuming the control unit is faulty, it is worth checking the condition of the relay: a faulty component can mimic a module fault, making the ABS cut in and out with no apparent pattern. If the problem continues after replacing it, the diagnosis points directly to the electronic unit.
Off-road use: more faults from mud and water crossings
In a vehicle designed for tracks, mud or wading through flooded areas, the wheel sensors and the ABS control unit itself work in harsher conditions than in purely urban use. Moisture and constant vibration speed up wear of the internal connections, one of the reasons why this SUV builds up more ABS faults than other road models.
Traction or stability control warning light on together with the ABS light
The ABS warning may appear together with the traction or stability control (VDC) light, as both systems share the same control unit in the X-Trail.
