Standard ABS module

Same manufacturer, two different modules

Nissan does not fit the same ABS to all its cars: depending on the model and year, yours has one module or another.

  • Standard ABS module

The standard ABS fitted to most Nissan models: hydraulic unit, pump and control unit in a single block. We remanufacture it in full and keep its original coding.

The evolution of the MK60 launched by ATE in 2004: hydraulic unit, pump and the control unit for ABS and stability control in a single block. Fitted by many European and Japanese brands.

WHY DOES IT FAIL?

Symptoms of a NISSAN ABS fault

Spotting a Nissan ABS fault in time can prevent accidents and bigger repairs. The Nissan ABS light on the dashboard is the warning we hear about most at the workshop, but it rarely comes alone: a Nissan ABS sensor that stops sending a signal, or a control unit that misreads the one it receives, can show up in several ways. The most common signs of a faulty ABS on a Nissan are:

ABS warning light on

The Nissan ABS light stays on in the instrument cluster and does not go out even after bleeding the brakes, because air in the hydraulic circuit and an electronic fault in the control unit show up in the same way but are not the same problem.

Internal ABS module fault

The scanner logs code C1110, an internal fault in the ABS actuator controller that points to the control unit’s own circuit board and not to a sensor or external wiring.

Unpredictable braking

The braking system does not respond as it should. DTC reading and testing of every hydraulic and electronic channel.

Loss of communication with the engine control unit

The diagnostic tool logs C1130 and the ABS module in your Nissan cannot establish communication with the engine control unit (ECM). Although the code names the engine, the cause lies in the ABS itself.

C1101 / C1102

Reading fault in the right (C1101) or left (C1102) rear wheel speed sensor

C1103 / C1104

Reading fault in the right (C1103) or left (C1104) front wheel speed sensor

C1105 – C1108

Specific problems in the electrical circuit (short circuit or open circuit) of the wheel sensors

C1110

Internal fault in the ABS actuator controller (electronic control module). Often requires repair or complete replacement of the unit

C1111

Fault in the ABS hydraulic pump motor (may be a mechanical seizure or an electrical fault)

C1124 / C1126

Problems in the internal solenoids (the valves that open and close the flow of brake fluid pressure)

C1140

Fault in the ABS actuator power relay

C1116

Fault in the brake light switch circuit. The module cannot reliably tell whether you are pressing the pedal

C1130

Engine signal communication error. The engine control unit (ECM) is not communicating correctly with the ABS

C1142

Fault or unrealistic reading in the brake fluid pressure sensor

C1143 / C1145

Calibration faults or failure in the steering angle sensor (C1143) or in the lateral acceleration sensor (Yaw Rate / G sensor) (C1145)

Nuestro cliente y nosotros estamos infinitamente agradecidos.

Well, 3 months ago they repaired a Seat León module for me, and from the very first moment they treated me in a super professional way. They were quick with the repair and practical with collecting the part and delivering it. No problems so far, I recommend them one hundred per cent.

NISSAN ABS repair frequently asked questions

If the bleeding has been done correctly and the ABS warning light does not go out, the problem is probably not air in the circuit but an internal fault in the module, such as a fault in the fluid pressure sensor (C1142) or in the internal solenoids (C1124/C1126). Bleeding the brakes does not fix electronic faults in the control unit, only air problems in the hydraulic system.

Codes C1101 to C1108 point to a reading or circuit fault in one of the wheel sensors, but before replacing the sensor it is worth checking whether the fault comes back after cleaning the connector and the pulse ring. If the code persists with the sensor in good condition, the cause usually lies in the ABS control unit itself, which misreads the signal it receives.

Although the code signals a communication error with the engine control unit (ECM), the real fault is that the ABS module cannot establish that communication properly, not in the engine itself. It is a code that often causes confusion because it mixes both systems, but diagnosis and repair focus on the ABS.

Use on dirt tracks, in mud or wading through water exposes both the wheel sensors and the ABS control unit itself to tougher conditions than in a vehicle used in town, encouraging electrical faults caused by moisture or vibration. It is one of the reasons why these models show sensor or internal communication codes more often, something we see especially often on the Patrol GR Y61.

Not always. C1110 indicates an internal fault in the ABS actuator controller, and although many garages go straight to replacement because they do not work on electronics, in most cases the fault lies in repairable components on the circuit board, which avoids the cost of a new module.

Repairing it costs roughly a quarter of what a new module would cost. What’s more, at Nito Motor there is no upfront payment: you only pay for the service once the unit has been checked, repaired and tested, with a 1-year warranty.

Yes, we work with the whole Nissan range, from passenger cars such as the Micra, Note, Tiida, Almera or Qashqai, to off-roaders such as the Pathfinder, Patrol and X-Trail, as well as commercial vehicles such as the NV200, NV300, NV400 and Interstar. If your model is not on our list, contact us and we will confirm availability.
