IMPREZA MODULE
ABS SUBARU IMPREZA
We carry out Subaru Impreza ABS repair by returning your own remanufactured ABS/VDC unit, with the hydraulic unit and circuit board restored. The Impreza shares its platform and braking system with the WRX and WRX STI versions, so on the sportier variants, hard repeated braking, higher sustained speeds or occasional track use subject the control unit to higher temperatures and vibration than calm urban driving; added to the years and miles of the older units, this encourages the module connectors to corrode or its internal components to degrade. Repairing it returns your own unit working like new, without having to recode the control unit or rely on a part from a breaker’s yard of uncertain compatibility. This is the Subaru Impreza version whose ABS module we repair. If you can’t find your car, contact us and we’ll help you.

WHY DOES IT FAIL?
SUBARU IMPREZA ABS FAULT symptoms
The Subaru Impreza does not show the driver its own catalogue of ABS fault codes: the fault is detected by the symptoms it causes. On the versions driven harder (WRX/STI) and on units with more years and miles, these symptoms tend to appear sooner. The most common are:
ABS warning light permanently on
The ABS warning light stays permanently on in the instrument cluster and does not disappear when the engine is restarted, a sign that the control unit has logged an internal fault that does not clear itself.
Hard brake pedal or irregular pedal travel
The pedal needs more force than usual or its travel changes from one braking to the next, normally due to a loss of pressure or a valve in the hydraulic unit that does not respond consistently.
Inconsistent braking between wheels
One wheel grips earlier or harder than the others under braking, an imbalance that is noticeable above all on wet surfaces or in an emergency stop.
VDC warning light on together with the ABS light
The vehicle dynamics control (VDC) warning light comes on at the same time as the ABS light, because both systems share the same electro-hydraulic control unit on the Impreza.
Greater wear on the sporty WRX/STI versions
More demanding use —hard repeated braking, higher sustained speeds or occasional track use— subjects the braking system and the ABS control unit to higher temperatures and vibration than calm urban driving, which can speed up wear on the module’s internal components.
Intermittent fault due to age and corroded connectors
On units with more years and miles, the ABS module connectors can corrode or its internal components degrade, causing faults that do not always recur consistently.
