MONTERO MODULE
ABS MITSUBISHI MONTERO
We repair the ABS module on your Mitsubishi Montero by returning your own unit remanufactured, with the accumulator and the pump rebuilt. Outside Spain this same off-roader is sold as the Pajero, so if you are looking for a Mitsubishi Pajero ABS repair or have questions about the Mitsubishi Pajero ABS on an imported vehicle, the procedure is identical: the Pajero ABS shares its control unit, pump and accumulator with the Montero. The HBB system on this off-roader is different from that of a conventional car, since braking pressure depends on a pump with an electric motor and a gas accumulator that are subject to enormous mechanical wear. If you need an ABS repair for your Mitsubishi Montero or Pajero, remember that we work at a fixed price with no surprises, you pay nothing until we have repaired your module, and we offer up to 2 years’ warranty.
We can't find that model. Escríbenos with the module's part number and we'll tell you if we can repair it.

HBB
Hydraulic brake servo: instead of engine vacuum, an electric pump charges an accumulator with brake fluid, and that pressure is what assists you when braking.

WHY DOES IT FAIL?
MITSUBISHI MONTERO ABS FAULT symptoms
The Mitsubishi Montero doesn’t show the driver a catalogue of ABS fault codes: the fault is detected by the symptoms it causes, especially linked to mechanical wear in the HBB brake pump system. The most common, particularly from the third generation onwards, are:
ABS light on with a beep and a hard pedal
The Mitsubishi Montero ABS light being on is usually accompanied by a continuous audible warning in the cabin and an extremely hard brake pedal, a sign that the hydraulic assistance has stopped working.
Loss of pressure from the accumulator
The Mitsubishi Montero ABS accumulator loses its gas charge over the years, forcing the pump to work harder to maintain pressure until it finally can’t restore it.
Pump with a worn electric motor
The graphite brushes of the electric motor in the Mitsubishi Montero ABS pump wear down with use, until the Mitsubishi Montero ABS motor stops turning and generating pressure.
Wheel sensor caked in mud
On vehicles used off-road, the Mitsubishi Montero ABS sensor can fill with mud or the wheel’s magnetic track can get damaged, causing erratic readings before the warning light stays on permanently.
Pedal slow to build pressure on start-up
If the pedal takes a few seconds to firm up after starting the engine, the pump is no longer charging the accumulator quickly enough: an early symptom of a Mitsubishi Montero ABS fault before the system deactivates.
Braking without anti-lock assistance
With the system switched off, the wheels can lock under emergency braking on slippery or wet ground, increasing the risk of skidding and losing control.
