WHY DOES IT FAIL?
PEUGEOT 207 ABS FAULT symptoms
The Peugeot 207 does not give the user its own list of ABS fault codes: the fault shows itself through the symptoms it causes in the dashboard warning light and the behaviour of the brake pedal. The most common in this model, especially in units with higher mileage and moisture built up in the connectors, are:
ABS warning light permanently on
The Peugeot 207 ABS light stays on in the instrument cluster and does not go out even when you restart the engine, a sign that the control unit has detected a problem and has deactivated the system as a precaution.
Harder brake pedal or longer travel
The pedal sinks further than usual or is harder to press, due to a loss of assistance in the hydraulic circuit of the Peugeot 207 ABS unit.
The car pulls to one side when braking
One wheel brakes earlier or harder than the others, especially noticeable on wet roads or under hard braking with the anti-lock system compromised.
Beep or anomaly message on the dashboard
Together with the warning light, an audible warning may sound or a Peugeot 207 ABS anomaly message may appear on the multifunction display, indicating that the system has been deactivated for safety.
Intermittent fault due to moisture in the connector
In the Peugeot 207 ABS module, moisture and corrosion often attack the control unit’s connector, causing erratic readings and the warning light coming on intermittently, especially on diesel units because of engine vibration.
The ABS does not intervene in emergency braking
The wheels lock under hard braking because a Peugeot 207 ABS fault has put the system out of action, increasing the stopping distance and the risk of an accident.
