ALTEA MODULE
SEAT ALTEA ABS
SEAT Altea ABS repair means returning your own remanufactured ABS control unit to you, with the hydraulic unit and circuit board restored, with no need to recode the vehicle or rely on a breaker’s yard spare of uncertain compatibility. We cover the whole Altea range, from its launch in 2004 to the end of production in 2015, including the long Altea XL variant: as it shares its platform and ABS system with the standard Altea, the repair is the same for both body styles, although it’s worth confirming the exact part number of the control unit before starting. It’s an especially common fault on older cars, such as a 2009 SEAT Altea ABS module, where the connectors start to corrode with use. This is the SEAT Altea version for which we repair the ABS module. If you can’t find your car, contact us and we’ll help you.

WHY DOES IT FAIL?
SEAT ALTEA ABS FAULT Symptoms
The Seat Altea has no table of its own ABS fault codes visible to the user: a SEAT Altea ABS fault is detected by the symptoms it causes, not by a specific code. Before suspecting the control unit, it’s worth ruling out the brake fluid level and the condition of the battery, as low voltage can turn the warning light on without there being a real fault. If the warning light persists, the most common symptoms are:
ABS warning light permanently on
The ABS warning light on your Seat Altea stays on in the instrument cluster and doesn’t go out when you restart the engine, a sign that the control unit has detected an internal fault in the SEAT Altea ABS module.
Brake pedal with irregular travel
The brake pedal feels harder than normal or its travel varies from one stop to the next, one of the clearest symptoms of an ABS fault on this model.
Inconsistent braking between wheels
One wheel brakes earlier or harder than the others, which is especially noticeable on wet roads or under sudden braking.
ESP warning light on together with the ABS light
On the Seat Altea it’s common for the ESP warning light to come on at the same time as the ABS light, as both systems share the same electro-hydraulic control unit.
Intermittent fault due to corroded connectors
Over the years and the miles, the ABS module connectors can corrode, causing faults that don’t always recur consistently — common on cars from 2009 onwards.
The ABS does not intervene in emergency braking
The wheels lock under hard braking because the system has stopped working, a fault that may be even more noticeable on a more heavily loaded SEAT Altea XL ABS module.
