The Suzuki SX4 does not have a catalogue of ABS fault codes visible to the user: the problem is identified by the symptoms it causes in everyday driving, especially after mixed use on tracks or unpaved roads. ABS warning light permanently on

    Die Abwicklung der Reparatur meines defekten ABS Modul (2003er BMW R1150GS) war sehr einfach, schnell und kompetent. Wenn man auf der Website den Reparaturauftrag erteilt hat, dann sollte man einen Screenshot vom Auftrag machen, denn ich habe keine schriftliche Bestätigung erhalten. Ist aber kein Problem. Achtet auf die Preise - auf der Website ist Netto angegeben, kann überraschen, weil wir es in D nicht gewohnt sind, mit Nettopreisen einzukaufen. Incl Transportversicherung betrugen die Reparaturkosten somit ca. 900 Euro, deutlich günstiger als andere Angebote. Das Gerät würde pünktlich, wie vereinbart, von einer Spedition 2 Tage nach Auftragserteilung an einem Mittwoch abgeholt und nach Spanien geschickt. Am folgenden Dienstag erhielt ich bereits die Info, dass die Reparatur fertig gestellt wurde. Super schnell. Ich habe überwiesen und den Screenshot der Überweisung mitgeschickt. So wurde das ABS bereits am darauf folgenden Mittwoch zurück gesendet und war am Montag wierder zu Hause. Das Ganze dauerte keine zwei Wochen. Das Gerät funktioniert wieder einwandfrei.

SUZUKI SX4 ABS repair FAQs

First of all, it is worth checking the brake fluid level and the condition of the battery, as low voltage can activate the ABS warning light without there being a real fault in the module. If these points are fine and the warning light persists, the fault is most likely in the control unit itself or in one of the wheel speed sensors.

It is quite a likely cause in this type of crossover, which is also designed for mixed use. Tracks, mud or driving through puddles expose both the wheel sensors and the ABS control unit itself to more vibration and moisture than urban use, which can loosen connections or damage internal electronic components over time.

Yes, it is quite common: over the years and the miles, the ABS module connectors can corrode or the internal components of the control unit can degrade, causing faults that do not always recur consistently. It is one of the most frequent faults on older-generation SX4 models.

As well as the ABS warning light being on in the instrument cluster, you may notice a brake pedal with irregular travel or that is harder than normal, inconsistent braking between wheels, or the traction or stability control warning light coming on at the same time, as both systems usually share the same control unit.

Repairing the original module is usually the safest and cheapest option. Second-hand modules are not always correctly coded for your specific vehicle, whereas the repair returns your own module working like new, with a warranty and no compatibility problems.
