PRIUS MODULE
ABS TOYOTA PRIUS
We repair the ABS module of your Toyota Prius and return your own remanufactured control unit, without relying on breaker’s yard parts of uncertain compatibility. Toyota Prius ABS repair is one of the most common enquiries we receive, because on this hybrid model the ABS works in a more integrated way with the regenerative braking system than on a conventional combustion car, so a fault in the module can also affect how energy is recovered when braking. The Prius went through clearly distinct generations — between 2003 and 2009, with years as common in our workshop as the 2005 Toyota Prius ABS, the 2007 Toyota Prius ABS and the 2008 Toyota Prius ABS, and between 2009 and 2015, with the 2010 Toyota Prius ABS and the 2012 Toyota Prius ABS among the most requested — and each one has its own control unit, so before requesting the repair it is essential to identify the year and generation of your vehicle correctly. A faulty 2008 Toyota Prius ABS module, for example, doesn’t share a part number with that of a 2012 Prius, so we always work on your vehicle’s own electronic part number so as not to lose the calibration or the mileage already linked to the original control unit. These are the Toyota Prius versions for which we repair the ABS module. Each one may have a different module: choose yours and we’ll show you the one it uses. If you can’t find your car, contact us and we’ll help you.
We can't find that model. Escríbenos with the module's part number and we'll tell you if we can repair it.

WHY DOES IT FAIL?
FAULT symptoms TOYOTA PRIUS ABS
The Toyota Prius doesn’t offer the user a list of ABS fault codes that can be checked without diagnostic equipment either: the fault is identified by the symptoms it causes on the brake pedal, in the instrument cluster and, on this model, also in the behaviour of the regenerative braking. When the problem lies in the Toyota Prius ABS pump responsible for modulating the hydraulic pressure, it is common to notice irregular pedal travel or inconsistent braking between wheels, as well as the ABS warning light itself coming on together with the VSC light.
ABS warning light on due to low voltage in the 12V battery
Before suspecting the control unit it is worth checking the 12V battery, not the high-voltage one: low voltage can turn on the Toyota Prius ABS warning light in the instrument cluster without there being any real fault in the module.
The ABS is integrated with the hybrid regenerative braking
On the Prius the ABS module works in a more integrated way with the regenerative braking system than on a conventional combustion car, as both have to coordinate to recover energy when braking; a fault in the module can also alter how the regenerative braking behaves.
Each Prius generation has a different ABS module
Between a 2005 to 2008 Prius and a 2010 to 2012 one, both the vehicle generation and the control unit part number change, so identifying the year and generation correctly is essential before requesting the repair.
Connectors corroded by age and mileage
Over the years and kilometres the Prius ABS module connectors can corrode or the internal components of the control unit can degrade, causing faults that don’t always recur consistently — one of the most frequent faults on older Prius.
VSC warning light on together with the ABS light
As both systems usually share the same control unit, it is common for the stability control (VSC) warning light to come on at the same time as the Prius ABS light in the instrument cluster.
Irregular brake pedal or inconsistent braking between wheels
Besides the warning light being on, you may notice a brake pedal with irregular travel or harder than normal and inconsistent braking between wheels, a sign that the Toyota Prius ABS module is no longer processing the sensor signals properly.
