WHY DOES IT FAIL?
Volvo ABS fault symptoms
Spotting a Volvo ABS fault in time can prevent accidents and bigger repairs. The Volvo ABS warning light on in the instrument cluster is the warning we hear about most at the workshop, but it rarely comes alone: a Volvo ABS sensor that stops sending a signal, a communication fault between control units or a control unit that misreads the signal it receives can end up causing a Volvo ABS malfunction. The most common signs of a faulty ABS on a Volvo are:
ABS warning light on
The Volvo ABS warning light stays on in the instrument cluster, often accompanied by the brake warning light.
Network communication fault
The ABS module stops communicating with the vehicle’s other control units and code DEM-U041568 is logged.
Unpredictable braking
The braking system does not respond as it should. DTC reading and testing of every hydraulic and electronic channel.
Hard brake pedal
You notice strong resistance or irregular travel when pressing the pedal, which indicates a fault in your Volvo’s ABS pump.
