LEÓN MODULE
SEAT LEÓN ABS
SEAT Leon ABS repair means returning your own remanufactured SEAT Leon ABS control unit to you, with the hydraulic unit and circuit board restored, with no need to recode the vehicle or rely on a breaker’s yard spare of uncertain compatibility. We repair both the SEAT Leon Mk1 ABS module (1999-2005) and the SEAT Leon 2 ABS module from the following generation (2005-2012), each with its own control unit part number. A 2009 SEAT Leon ABS module is one of those that reach the workshop most often, along with the older SEAT Leon 1 ABS and SEAT Leon 2 ABS units, given the average age of the cars of both generations still on the road. This is the SEAT León version for which we repair the ABS module. If you can’t find your car, contact us and we’ll help you.

WHY DOES IT FAIL?
SEAT LEÓN ABS FAULT Symptoms
The Seat León has no table of its own ABS fault codes visible to the user: a SEAT Leon ABS fault is detected by the symptoms it causes, not by a specific code. A SEAT Leon 2 ABS control unit fault is common on the second generation, where a SEAT Leon 2 ABS control unit with corroded connectors is the most usual cause, together with the SEAT Leon ABS and ESP warning light that tends to accompany the fault because both systems share the same control unit. Before you repair a SEAT Leon ABS module, it’s worth ruling out the brake fluid level and the condition of the battery, as low voltage can turn the warning light on without there being a real fault. If it persists, the most common symptoms are:
ABS and ESP warning lights on at the same time
On the León it’s common to see the SEAT Leon ABS and ESP warning lights come on at the same moment, because both systems share the same electronic control unit and an internal fault switches them both off for safety.
Brake pedal with irregular travel
The pedal is harder to press on some stops than on others, or its travel is no longer consistent, a common symptom when the ABS starts to fail on this model.
Inconsistent braking between wheels
One wheel grips earlier or harder than the rest when braking, an imbalance that is most noticeable on wet tarmac or under sudden braking.
Corroded connectors on the León Mk1
Over the years, the SEAT Leon Mk1 ABS module connectors corrode easily, causing a SEAT Leon ABS fault that comes and goes with no fixed pattern.
Different part number depending on the generation
A 2009 SEAT Leon ABS module does not share its part number with the first-generation one, so it’s worth confirming the exact year before you repair a SEAT Leon ABS module.
The ABS does not intervene in emergency braking
If the system stops working, the wheels lock under hard braking, a SEAT Leon ABS fault that should be taken to a garage as soon as possible.
