4RUNNER MODULE
ABS TOYOTA 4RUNNER
We repair the ABS module on your Toyota 4Runner and return your own remanufactured control unit, without relying on breaker’s yard parts of uncertain compatibility. Toyota 4Runner ABS repair is especially common on the imported units on Spanish roads, which come from the American market, where factors such as humidity, the type of electrical installation or accumulated wear affect the original Toyota 4Runner ABS module differently from vehicles type-approved in Europe. We work the same way whether or not your 4Runner is type-approved for use in the European Union, as the repair depends only on correctly identifying the electronic part number of the control unit fitted. These are the Toyota 4Runner versions whose ABS module we repair. Each one may be fitted with a different module: choose yours and we will show you the one it uses. If you can’t find your car, contact us and we’ll help you.
We can't find that model. Escríbenos with the module's part number and we'll tell you if we can repair it.

Not every 4Runner has the same ABS: depending on the version and year, it is fitted with one module or another.

HBB
Hydraulic brake servo: instead of engine vacuum, an electric pump charges an accumulator with brake fluid, and that pressure is what assists you when braking.

WHY DOES IT FAIL?
TOYOTA 4RUNNER ABS FAULT symptoms
The Toyota 4Runner does not have a catalogue of ABS fault codes visible to the user: the fault is identified by the symptoms it causes. The most common 4Runner ABS fault symptoms, especially on imported units with more years of use, are:
ABS warning light permanently on
The ABS warning light stays on in the instrument cluster and does not go off when the engine is restarted, a sign that the control unit has detected a persistent internal fault.
Harder brake pedal or longer travel
The pedal sinks further than usual or is harder to press, due to a loss of pressure in the hydraulic circuit.
The car pulls to one side when braking
One wheel brakes earlier or harder than the rest, especially noticeable on wet surfaces or under hard braking.
Loss of 4×4 traction control
The ABS system is electronically linked to the 4Runner’s distribution of drive between the axles, so a control unit fault can limit or disable 4×4 mode.
Rear sensor fault versus module fault
If the fault code points to a specific axle and the sensor measures correctly with a multimeter, the problem is usually in the ABS control unit and not in the wheel sensor.
Check Engine light on together with the ABS light
This may be because the ABS module fault interferes with communication with the main ECU, although it is also worth ruling out a separate engine fault.
