PICANTO MODULE
ABS KIA PICANTO
Kia Picanto ABS repair is one of the most requested car electronics services in our workshop for this model. We repair your own ABS module and return it to you remanufactured, with the hydraulic unit and circuit board restored. We cover both first-generation (SA) Picantos, registered between 2004 and 2011 —including units from 2005 and 2007, the years with the most examples on the road in Spain—, and the later JA and JA facelift generations, with no need to recode the control unit or rely on a breaker’s yard part of uncertain compatibility. This is the Kia Picanto version for which we repair the ABS module. If you can’t find your car, contact us and we’ll help you.

WHY DOES IT FAIL?
Symptoms of a FAULTY KIA PICANTO ABS
The Kia Picanto does not show the driver an ABS fault code: the fault is detected through the symptoms it causes. The most common on this model, especially on higher-mileage first-generation units, are:
ABS warning light permanently on
The ABS warning light stays on in the instrument cluster even after restarting the engine, a sign that the Picanto’s control unit has logged a persistent internal fault.
Harder brake pedal or longer travel
The pedal is harder to press or sinks further than normal, due to a pressure drop in the hydraulic circuit of the braking system.
The car pulls to one side when braking
One wheel brakes earlier or harder than the others, which is especially noticeable under hard braking or on wet roads.
Traction control warning light on
It comes on together with the ABS light because both systems share the same electro-hydraulic unit on the Picanto.
Intermittent wheel speed sensor fault
Over the years, dirt or corrosion on the wheel sensor or its wiring causes erratic readings and the warning light coming on intermittently, a frequent fault on units over 15 years old such as 2005 and 2007 Picantos.
The ABS does not intervene in emergency braking
The wheels lock under hard braking because the system has stopped working, which increases the braking distance and the risk of skidding.
