E-CLASS MODULE
ABS MERCEDES E-CLASS
We carry out Mercedes E-ABS-Class repair by returning your own ABS/ESP control unit, or the hydraulic unit of the SBC system, remanufactured in a technical repair centre. We cover the most popular generations of the E-Class: the W124 (1993-1995), the W210 (1995-2002) and the W211 (2002-2009), with diesel and petrol engines —including the popular E320—, with no need to recode the control unit or rely on a breaker’s yard part of uncertain compatibility. These are the Mercedes E-Class versions for which we repair the ABS module. Each one may be fitted with a different module: choose yours and we’ll show you the one it uses. If you can’t find your car, contact us and we’ll help you.
We can't find that model. Escríbenos with the module's part number and we'll tell you if we can repair it.

Not every E-Class has the same ABS: depending on the version and year, it is fitted with one module or another.

SBC module
The electro-hydraulic brake Mercedes-Benz developed with Bosch: the pedal is a sensor and braking comes from an electric pump with an accumulator at 140-160 bar. It also manages ABS, ESP, BAS and ASR.

WHY DOES IT FAIL?
MERCEDES E-CLASS ABS FAULT symptoms
The Mercedes E-Class does not give the driver an ABS fault code that can be read without diagnostic equipment: the fault is detected by the symptoms it causes. These are the most common across the model’s different generations, from the W124 to the W211:
ABS, BAS and ESP warning lights on at the same time
On W210 and W211 units it is common for the ABS, BAS and ESP warning lights to come on simultaneously —or the “Brakes defective” warning on versions with SBC—, a sign that the control unit has detected an internal fault and has deactivated the systems as a precaution.
Hard brake pedal or excessive pedal travel
You will notice that you have to press harder than normal, or that the pedal sinks further than it should, due to a loss of pressure in the Mercedes W211 ABS module or its hydraulic unit.
Uneven braking, the car pulls to one side
One of the wheels brakes earlier or more strongly than the others, an effect that is noticeable mainly on wet surfaces or during sudden braking, and which gives away a fault in the hydraulic unit’s pressure distribution.
Fault warning light on for no apparent reason on the W124
On the Mercedes W124 ABS the cause is not always the control unit: the Mercedes W124 ABS relay (the OVP, or overvoltage protection, relay) is one of the most frequent causes of this symptom, and it is worth ruling it out before declaring the complete unit faulty.
Intermittent wheel sensor fault
On W210 and W211 units it is common for a wheel sensor to send incorrect readings due to dirt, corrosion or wear on the toothed reluctor ring, making the warning light come on and go off for no apparent reason.
The ABS doesn’t respond under emergency braking
Under sudden braking the wheels lock because the system has stopped intervening, which lengthens the braking distance and increases the risk of losing control of the vehicle, a typical fault of the Mercedes E320 ABS with a worn hydraulic unit.
