OUTLANDER MODULE

ABS MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER

We repair the ABS module on your Mitsubishi Outlander by returning your own unit remanufactured, with the circuit board and the return pump restored. We cover all three generations of this crossover: the first (2001-2006), the second (2006-2012) —where the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander ABS module accounts for a large share of the faults due to wear of its internal components— and the third (2012-2021), in petrol, diesel and PHEV plug-in hybrid versions. If you need a Mitsubishi Outlander ABS repair, we keep your unit’s coding intact for direct plug & play fitting, with no recoding and no reliance on a breaker’s yard part of uncertain reliability. This is the Mitsubishi Outlander version for which we repair the ABS module. If you can’t find your car, contact us and we’ll help you.

We can't find that model. Escríbenos with the module's part number and we'll tell you if we can repair it.

Not every Outlander has the same ABS: depending on the version and year, it is fitted with one module or another.

WHY DOES IT FAIL?

MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER ABS FAULT symptoms

The Mitsubishi Outlander doesn’t publish a catalogue of ABS fault codes for the user: the fault is detected by the symptoms it causes, almost always related to ageing of the circuit board and wear of the return pump. The most common, especially on higher-mileage vehicles, are:

ABS and ASC/ESP warning lights permanently on

The ABS symbol comes on together with the stability control (ASC/ESP) symbol and, in many cases, the message «Service required» appears on the instrument cluster display: the control unit has switched itself off for safety.

Intermittent warning before it stays on

Before it comes on permanently, the warning light usually flashes during the first starts of the day: this is the effect of a micro-crack in the circuit board’s solder that has not yet lost contact completely.

Loss of communication with the CAN bus network (common on the second generation)

On second-generation vehicles, and especially on the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander ABS module, it is common for the control unit to stop responding to the CAN bus or to log incorrect readings from the built-in pressure sensors.

Brake pedal responding differently from usual

Conventional mechanical braking still works, but the pedal responds differently and the wheels can lock earlier than normal without the anti-lock assistance of the Outlander ABS.

Wheel-specific errors versus power supply faults

If the scanner shows a specific error for one wheel, checking the sensor is usually enough; if instead it shows power supply faults in the pump motor or a general lack of communication, the cause lies in the unit itself.

Return pump wear

Over the years, the components of the Mitsubishi Outlander ABS return pump wear out through continuous use, reducing its ability to generate the pressure needed for the anti-lock cycle.

Nuestro cliente y nosotros estamos infinitamente agradecidos.

Well, 3 months ago they repaired a Seat León module for me, and from the very first moment they treated me in a super professional way. They were quick with the repair and practical with collecting the part and delivering it. No problems so far, I recommend them one hundred per cent.

MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER ABS repair FAQs

The main symptom is the ABS and stability control (ASC/ESP) warning lights staying permanently on in the instrument cluster, often accompanied by the “Service required” warning on the central display. When this alert appears, the system switches itself off for safety, requiring an urgent Mitsubishi Outlander ABS repair to restore emergency braking assistance.

Yes, it is a relatively common fault. The Mitsubishi Outlander ABS module is exposed to constant temperature changes in the engine bay and to the vibration of everyday driving. Over time, this physical stress ends up causing micro-cracks in the solder joints of the circuit board or wearing out the components of the return pump.

Units from that period, especially the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander ABS module, frequently show problems with loss of communication with the vehicle’s CAN bus network or implausible faults in the built-in pressure sensors. Fortunately, these endemic faults can be completely corrected by rebuilding the circuit board on a test bench.

You will not lose conventional mechanical braking, as the hydraulic system will still push the pads against the discs. However, driving with a faulty Outlander ABS, you will lose the anti-lock function. This means that under hard braking or on wet tarmac the wheels will skid, preventing you from steering round an obstacle.

Rebuilding your own Mitsubishi Outlander ABS is the safest option. By doing so, you keep your car’s chassis number (VIN) and coding, which allows direct installation (plug & play) without costly reprogramming at the garage. Parts from a breaker’s yard, besides requiring coding, are highly likely to develop the same factory defect within a few months.

Electronic diagnosis is key. If the scan tool reports wheel-specific faults (for example, “signal loss front left wheel”), the usual step is to clean or replace that peripheral sensor. If the codes point to power supply faults in the pump motor, internal relays or a general loss of communication, the source of the problem is physically in the control unit.

To minimise the time you are left without your vehicle, the repair protocol is very quick. Once your mechanic removes the part and it is received at the specialised technical repair centres, the full process of reading, re-soldering, component replacement and final validation is usually completed within 24 to 48 hours (working days).
