OUTBACK MODULE
ABS SUBARU OUTBACK
We carry out Subaru Outback ABS repair by returning your own remanufactured ABS/VDC unit, with the hydraulic unit and circuit board restored. The Outback is an estate/crossover also designed for mixed use on tracks, and trips over muddy ground or through puddles expose both the wheel speed sensors and the control unit itself to vibration and moisture far greater than in urban use, which over time can loosen connections or damage internal electronic components. On top of this comes the normal wear of years and miles: on the older units, the module connectors tend to corrode and its internal components to degrade. Repairing it returns your own Subaru Outback ABS unit working like new, without having to recode the control unit or rely on a part of uncertain compatibility. This is the Subaru Outback version whose ABS module we repair. If you can’t find your car, contact us and we’ll help you.

WHY DOES IT FAIL?
SUBARU OUTBACK ABS FAULT symptoms
The Subaru Outback does not show the driver its own catalogue of ABS fault codes: the fault is detected by the symptoms it causes. On units with more years and miles, and especially on those that have seen intensive use on tracks, in mud or through water, these symptoms tend to appear sooner. The most common are:
ABS warning light permanently on
The ABS warning light stays permanently on in the instrument cluster and does not disappear when the engine is restarted, a sign that the control unit has logged an internal fault that does not clear itself.
Hard brake pedal or irregular pedal travel
The pedal needs more force than usual or its travel changes from one braking to the next, normally due to a loss of pressure or a valve in the hydraulic unit that does not respond consistently.
Inconsistent braking between wheels
One wheel grips earlier or harder than the others under braking, an imbalance that is noticeable above all on wet surfaces or in an emergency stop.
VDC warning light on together with the ABS light
The vehicle dynamics control (VDC) warning light comes on at the same time as the ABS light, because both systems share the same electro-hydraulic control unit on the Outback.
Higher incidence after use on tracks, in mud or through water
The Outback’s off-road use —tracks, mud or driving through puddles— subjects the wheel sensors and the control unit itself to vibration and moisture far greater than in urban use, which speeds up the loosening of connections and the deterioration of internal electronic components.
Intermittent fault due to age and corroded connectors
On units with more years and miles, the ABS module connectors can corrode or its internal components degrade, causing faults that do not always recur consistently.
