WHY DOES IT FAIL?
Tesla ABS fault symptoms
Spotting a Tesla ABS fault in time can prevent accidents and bigger repairs. The Tesla ABS warning on the screen is the sign we see most often at the workshop, but it rarely comes alone: a Tesla ABS sensor losing its signal, interference in the wheel speed reading or a short circuit in the wiring can all end in a Tesla ABS malfunction. The most common signs of a faulty ABS on a Tesla are:
ABS warning light on
The screen shows the ABS, stability control and traction control disabled warnings all at once (ESP_w001, ESP_w002, ESP_w003).
Internal ABS module fault
Codes ESP_a067 and ESP_a080 are generically linked to a fault in the ABS module or in a specific wheel sensor.
Unpredictable braking
The braking system does not respond as it should. DTC reading and testing of every hydraulic and electronic channel.
Electrical fault in the wheel sensor
Signal noise (ESP_a033) or a short circuit to earth in the circuit (ESP_d023) prevents the control unit from receiving a reliable wheel speed reading.
