What is the BMW Integral II ABS module?
It is the second generation of BMW Motorrad’s integral ABS. It is made by ATE (Continental) on the basis of the MK61 and combines the hydraulic unit, with its pump, and the electronic control unit in a single block. From 2006 it replaced the Integral FTE with brake servo.
It is fitted to the R 1200 GS, GS Adventure, RT, R and S, the second-series K 1200 S, R and GT, the K 1300 and the early K 1600 GT and GTL. You’ll find the full list in the Compatible vehicles tab.
To identify it, look at the module’s label: the ATE part number starts with 10.0961- (for example, 10.0961-0859.3) and the BMW one with 34 51. Look it up in the Part numbers tab.

Problems and failure symptoms of the BMW Integral II ABS
On the BMW Integral II ABS, the fault is usually first noticed because the ABS warning light is on, either steadily or now and then. The pedal or lever may also go hard or suddenly lose its feel. If these symptoms keep recurring, the ABS module should be checked.
ABS motor error (the most common)
- The warning light comes and goes sporadically, sometimes clearing when the motorcycle is restarted.
- The warning light is on but the brake feel is correct, with normal braking retained without ABS.
Faults in the hydraulic assembly
- Brake locked completely (pedal or lever locked).
- The brake lever or pedal goes all the way down without braking.
Electronic faults
- No communication with the ABS ECU.
Sensor and pressure reading problems
- Pressure sensor fault.
- Incorrect readings that disrupt the operation of the ABS.
No communication with the ABS control unit
- Damaged or burnt-out ECU.
- Controllers severely deteriorated and difficult to recover.

Frequently asked questions
Does the module need to be coded or reprogrammed after the repair?
In most cases, no. If your own unit is repaired and the same module is returned, it will normally keep its configuration and work normally after fitting. Even so, depending on the model and the type of fault, it may be advisable to clear the fault memory and run a diagnostic check.
Is it safe to ride the motorcycle when the ABS has faults?
It isn’t advisable. An ABS fault can mean anything from the system no longer assisting to irregular behaviour or entering protection mode. If it also affects pressure management or causes locking, safety is compromised. If the warning light comes on repeatedly or you notice changes in braking, have it checked as soon as possible and avoid demanding riding.
What exactly does the repair include?
- Initial diagnosis of the ABS module on the test bench.
- Electronic repair of the faulty components.
- Inspection of the mechanical and hydraulic parts of the system.
- Replacement of worn internal parts.
- Final operating tests and full verification.
- 12-month certified warranty, with no mileage limit.
What happens if the module can’t be repaired?
If we can’t repair it and don’t offer you a solution, we don’t charge you anything: we return your part to you at no cost whatsoever.
Can I fit the module myself once it has been repaired?
Yes, provided you have mechanical experience and the right tools. It is important to follow the correct procedure for the model, respect the tightening torques and bleed the brakes perfectly. If you aren’t used to it, the safest option is to have a professional do the fitting and bleeding.
Does the repair affect the conventional braking system?
The repair works on the ABS module and its electronics; the conventional system (lever/pedal, calipers, hoses, discs…) stays the same. What may happen is that, if the ABS was altering the pressure or the feel, you notice more stable braking after the repair. If the circuit has air in it, degraded fluid or mechanical components in poor condition, these will need to be corrected separately.
Does the repair include a warranty?
Yes. The repair comes with a 12-month certified warranty, with no mileage limit.
Important:
- Nito Motor S.L. will only be liable for the correct operation of the device during that period.
- Nito Motor S.L. will not be liable for the cost of fitting and removing the modulator during the warranty period; this cost will be borne by the workshop or the end customer.
- The warranty will be void if there are clear signs that the ABS module contains any fluid other than brake fluid (water, cleaning solvent…). We recommend never cleaning the module with a pressure washer.
Common fault codes
When the 3rd-generation module detects a fault, it is stored as a fault code in its ECU. These are the ones we see most often:
Fallos del motor de la bomba / relé
Pump motor fault.
Pump motor fault (connector or brushes).

Brake pressure sensor fault.
Pressure sensor plausibility fault.
Fallo interno del módulo
Internal fault.
Low voltage (power supply below 9 V). Sometimes a new battery fixes it, but if it persists it is a module fault.

Die Abwicklung der Reparatur meines defekten ABS Modul (2003er BMW R1150GS) war sehr einfach, schnell und kompetent. Wenn man auf der Website den Reparaturauftrag erteilt hat, dann sollte man einen Screenshot vom Auftrag machen, denn ich habe keine schriftliche Bestätigung erhalten. Ist aber kein Problem. Achtet auf die Preise - auf der Website ist Netto angegeben, kann überraschen, weil wir es in D nicht gewohnt sind, mit Nettopreisen einzukaufen. Incl Transportversicherung betrugen die Reparaturkosten somit ca. 900 Euro, deutlich günstiger als andere Angebote. Das Gerät würde pünktlich, wie vereinbart, von einer Spedition 2 Tage nach Auftragserteilung an einem Mittwoch abgeholt und nach Spanien geschickt. Am folgenden Dienstag erhielt ich bereits die Info, dass die Reparatur fertig gestellt wurde. Super schnell. Ich habe überwiesen und den Screenshot der Überweisung mitgeschickt. So wurde das ABS bereits am darauf folgenden Mittwoch zurück gesendet und war am Montag wierder zu Hause. Das Ganze dauerte keine zwei Wochen. Das Gerät funktioniert wieder einwandfrei.
