WHY DOES IT FAIL?
Symptoms of an MG ABS fault
Spotting an MG ABS fault in time can prevent accidents and bigger repairs. The MG ABS warning light on the dashboard is the warning we hear about most at the workshop, but it rarely comes alone: an MG ABS sensor that stops sending a signal, or a control unit that misreads the one it receives, can show up in several ways. The most common signs of a faulty ABS on an MG are:
ABS warning light on
The MG ABS warning light stays on in the instrument cluster, sometimes accompanied by warnings from the steering and stability sensors that depend on the same control unit, even though those components are in good condition.
Internal ABS module fault
The scanner logs code C0121, an internal performance error in the ABS electronic control module that points to the control unit’s own circuit board and not to a sensor or external wiring.
Unpredictable braking
The braking system does not respond as it should. DTC reading and testing of every hydraulic and electronic channel.
Loss of communication on the CAN network
The diagnostic tool logs U0121 and the ABS module in your MG is cut off from the main computer (ECM/BCM), a recurring fault on the ZS and HS that usually originates inside the control unit itself.
