WHY DOES IT FAIL?
Symptoms of a Mini ABS fault
Spotting a Mini ABS fault in time can prevent accidents and bigger repairs. The Mini ABS warning light on the dashboard is the warning we hear about most at the workshop, but it rarely comes alone: a Mini ABS sensor that stops sending a signal, or a control unit that misreads the one it receives, can show up in several ways. The most common signs of a faulty ABS on a Mini are:
ABS warning light on
The Mini ABS warning light stays on in the instrument cluster, almost always together with the DSC light: on a Mini the stability control shares a control unit with the ABS, so a single internal fault disables both systems at once.
Internal ABS module fault
The scanner logs 5DF2 or 5DF5, an internal hardware error in the control unit —the ROM/RAM memory check fails— that points to the circuit board itself and not to a sensor or external wiring.
Unpredictable braking
The braking system does not respond as it should. DTC reading and testing of every hydraulic and electronic channel.
Hydraulic pump motor fault
The diagnostic tool logs 5DF0 or 5DF1 and the pump motor in your Mini’s hydraulic unit stops responding, one of the most common faults on the ATE MK60 units the brand fits.

TYPICAL MINI ABS FAULTS WE REPAIR
Most common Mini DTC codes
Fault in the hydraulic unit's pump motor or its connector. It is one of the most common faults on the ATE units (such as the MK60) fitted to Minis.
Internal hardware error in the control unit (ROM/RAM check failure).
Generic internal error in the DSC control unit.
Module supply voltage outside operating limits (below 9V or above 18V).
Reading problem or fault in the left front wheel speed sensor.
Reading problem or fault in the right front wheel speed sensor.
Reading problem or fault in the left rear wheel speed sensor.
Reading problem or fault in the right rear wheel speed sensor.
Fault in internal brake pressure sensor 1 or 2 (a very common code on the Mini R56 generation).
Implausible or inconsistent pressure sensor readings.
Steering angle sensor not initialised (requires recalibration with a scanner after a battery change or wheel alignment).
Fault or illogical signal in the lateral acceleration sensor (Yaw rate sensor).
Brake fluid level switch warning (level too low).
