COOPER MODULE
ABS MINI COOPER
We carry out Mini Cooper ABS repair by returning your own ABS/DSC unit remanufactured, with the hydraulic unit and the circuit board restored. We work with every generation of the Cooper: the original R50 (2001-2006, 3 and 5 doors), the R56 (2006-2013) and the current F56, in the Cooper, Cooper S and Cooper D variants, with no need to recode the control unit or rely on a breaker’s yard part of uncertain compatibility. The Mini Cooper R50 ABS module is the one we receive most often in the workshop, given the average age of these cars. This is the Mini Cooper version for which we repair the ABS module. If you can’t find your car, contact us and we’ll help you.

WHY DOES IT FAIL?
MINI COOPER ABS FAULT symptoms
The Mini Cooper doesn’t show the driver a catalogue of ABS fault codes either: a module fault is detected by the symptoms it causes. The most common on this model, especially on older, higher-mileage R50 cars, are:
ABS warning light permanently on
The ABS warning light stays on in the instrument cluster and doesn’t go away even when you restart the engine, which indicates that the module has logged an internal fault.
Brake pedal with irregular travel
You will notice the pedal is harder to press or its travel varies from one stop to the next, due to a loss of pressure in the module’s hydraulic circuit.
The car veers when braking
One wheel brakes earlier or harder than the others, an effect that is most noticeable on wet roads or under sudden braking.
DSC warning light on together with the ABS light
On the Mini Cooper, the ABS and the DSC (stability control) share the same control unit, so both warning lights usually come on at the same time.
Intermittent fault, more common on the R50
On older Mini Cooper R50 ABS units the module connectors can corrode or degrade over the years and the miles, leading to a Mini Cooper ABS fault that doesn’t always recur consistently.
The ABS stops intervening under sudden braking
The wheels lock when you brake hard because the system has stopped working, which lengthens the distance needed to stop the car.
