WHY DOES IT FAIL?
Symptoms of a Lada ABS fault
Spotting a Lada ABS fault in time can prevent accidents and bigger repairs. The Lada ABS warning light on the dashboard is the warning we hear about most at the workshop, but it rarely comes alone: a Lada ABS sensor that stops sending a signal because of a gap out of range, or a control unit that misreads the one it receives, can show up in several ways. The most common signs of a faulty ABS on a Lada are:
ABS warning light on
The Lada ABS warning light stays on in the instrument cluster, and the cause is not always the control unit: codes 520016 and 520017 warn of low or high supply voltage, which should be ruled out before working on the module.
Internal ABS module fault
The scanner logs 421149 or 402049, an internal fault in the ECU or in the hydraulic unit itself that points to the control unit’s electronics and not to a sensor or external wiring.
Unpredictable braking
The braking system does not respond as it should. DTC reading and testing of every hydraulic and electronic channel.
Loss of communication on the CAN network
The diagnostic tool logs C00187 or C00188 —a break or short circuit in the CAN bus— and the ABS module in your Lada is cut off from the rest of the vehicle, with symptoms of a brake fault even though the unit is not damaged.
