WHY DOES IT FAIL?
SAAB ABS fault symptoms
Spotting a Saab ABS fault in time can prevent accidents and bigger repairs. The Saab ABS warning light on in the instrument cluster is the warning we hear about most at the workshop, but it rarely comes alone: a wheel speed sensor that stops sending a signal, a dirty reluctor ring or a control unit that misreads what it receives can show up in several ways. The most common signs of a faulty ABS on a Saab are:
ABS warning light on
The Saab ABS warning light stays on in the instrument cluster, sometimes together with the ESP light: a fault as simple as the brake pedal switch (C0161) shuts down both systems as a precaution.
Internal ABS module fault
The scanner logs codes C0550 or C0551, an internal hardware or performance fault in the ABS control module that points to the circuit board of your Saab’s control unit itself, not to a sensor or external wiring.
Unpredictable braking
The braking system does not respond as it should. DTC reading and testing of every hydraulic and electronic channel.
Loss of communication on the CAN network
The diagnostic tool logs U2105 or U0121 and your Saab’s ABS module is cut off from the engine control unit and the CIM module: it is the most typical network fault on the 9-3 Sport Sedan and it usually originates inside the control unit itself.
