WHY DOES IT FAIL?
Skoda ABS fault symptoms
Spotting a Skoda ABS fault in time can prevent accidents and bigger repairs. The Skoda ABS light on in the instrument cluster is the warning we hear about most at the workshop, but it rarely comes alone: a Skoda ABS sensor that stops sending a signal, or a control unit that misreads the signal it receives, can show up in several ways. The most common signs of a faulty ABS on a Skoda are:
ABS warning light on
The Skoda ABS light stays on in the instrument cluster and, before looking at the control unit, it is worth checking the fuses in the box above the battery: code 01276 for the hydraulic pump motor (V64) often originates there. If the fuse is fine, or blows again after being replaced, the most likely cause is internal wear of the electric motor, inside the module.
Internal ABS module fault
The scanner logs code 16352 / 01130, an internal electrical or hardware fault in the ABS control unit (J104). It is very common in the ATE MK60 modules fitted to the Octavia II platform and often means the module has to be rebuilt.
Unpredictable braking
The braking system does not respond as it should. DTC reading and testing of every hydraulic and electronic channel.
Loss of communication with the engine control unit
The diagnostic tool logs 01316 / U0121 and the engine control module cannot communicate with your Skoda’s ABS. It may come from the CAN bus wiring, corroded connectors or a battery with a critically low charge, but also from an internal fault in the module itself.

TYPICAL SKODA ABS FAULTS WE REPAIR
Most common Skoda DTC codes
Front left wheel speed sensor (G47) — range/performance problem
Front right wheel speed sensor (G45) — range/performance problem
Rear right wheel speed sensor (G44) — intermittent electrical fault in the circuit (confirmed in a real case on a 2007 Skoda Octavia)
Rear left wheel speed sensor (G46) — range/performance problem
Front left ABS inlet/outlet valve (N137)
Main ABS valve (N105)
Vehicle speed sensor — no signal (G68)
Front right ABS inlet/outlet valve (N138)
Rear left ABS inlet/outlet valve (N139)
Rear right ABS inlet/outlet valve (N140)
Fault in the ABS hydraulic pump motor (V64). It is commonly caused by a blown fuse in the box above the battery or by internal wear of the electric motor.
Internal electrical or hardware fault in the ABS control unit (J104). Very common in ATE MK60 modules (fitted to the Octavia II platform); it often requires the module to be rebuilt.
Malfunction in the ABS return pump (V39).
Fault or implausible reading from brake pressure sensor 1 (G201). In many modules, this sensor is soldered internally.
Calibration error or fault in the steering angle sensor (G85). It is the classic code that appears after replacing the battery, removing the steering wheel or carrying out a wheel alignment.
No communication between the engine control unit and the ABS module. It is usually due to a wiring problem (CAN bus), corroded connectors or a battery with a critically low charge.
